Previously, we saw missions and artifacts of the National Park Service’s “San Antonio Missions National Historic Park,” a UNESCO World Heritage site. Today, we view the best-known mission in San Antonio — Mission San Antonio de Valero, “The Alamo.” Although not technically part of the NPS, (it is run by the Texas General Land Office,) The Alamo is part of the UNESCO site. Above all, it is a cultural icon, and stands globally as a hallmark for the fight for liberty and independence, very worthy of a visit.
