The Lyndon B. Johnson Historical Park (LBJ Ranch,) 50 miles outside of Austin, Texas, protects the birthplace, home, ranch, and final resting place of Lyndon B. Johnson, 36th president of the United States. Close by, his wife Lady Bird Johnson and actress Helen Hayes created a wildflower conservation center that most now call the best place to see wildflowers in Texas. Both the President and First Lady were products and protectors of this land they called home, and often came here from Washington, D.C. for the serenity and peace of mind they felt on the landscape. I believe some of that warm, Texas dirt rubbed off on the rest of they country – a nation so desperately needing to heal after the assassination of President Kennedy. Their efforts were truly a joint effort, and that’s why the song on the video is called “Joint Effort,” written by Joint Effort, the band.) Check it out.
