From where we were last, “Point Reyes National Seashore” in Northern California, USA, it is an easy, yet exciting, drive north up the coast to Fort Ross. From Point Reyes, you head north on the Pacific Coast Highway, (PCH-1,) following the coastline in a most memorable fashion. Along the way, you will see coastal towns like Bodega Bay and others. Yet, the real star of this route is the awe-inspiring scenery.
At Fort Ross, Russian settlers lived from 1812 to 1841. It was the southernmost fort they built in North America, and it supported their trade activities at that time. Today, visitors can catch a glimpse of their lives by walking through the fort, the landscape, and the graveyard. Luckily, I was allowed to observe a school children reenactment of that time during my visit. You can see it on the following video.
