The following video is the second in my “Gumshoe Opera” series. It is the theme song from the science fiction detective novel “The Hydration War.” Although set sometime in the future, I took inspiration from the Ancestral Pueblo (Anasazi) societies, last known to be alive in 1500 Southwest United States. No one knows what became of their culture. Was it war, drought, or a war caused by drought?
In the story, a future detective, whose job it is to solve crimes, and his partner are split up, but must get back together in order to solve a high-profile murder. Physically, they are DNA-linked, and can only solve crimes when the two halves of their brains are combined into one super-brain. This happens in an age where rain clouds and groundwater can be controlled technologically. Thus, the Hydration Wars began.
Will the detective and his partner find each other again, or will dastardly villains keep them apart? And, can the answers they find put a stop to the Hydration Wars? Only time will tell.
