From big city hustle to forested ryokans (traditional Japanese inns,) Japan has it all. Japan is a mix of the old and the new. Though wars and earthquakes have been destructive, Japan has rebuilt itself in the styles of the past and the modern. Here, you find people living in modern housing and traveling on one of the busiest public transit systems in the world. And here you find people communally bathing in hot-spring waters (onsen,) sleeping on futons in tatami-matted rooms, and enjoying traditional kaiseki (various small dish) meals. Last, but not least, don’t forget about fashion in Japan, where you see people daily in public who wear business suits, geisha, haori and kimono outfits, and the cute kawaii trends of youth.
See Japan today and see Japan a year from now. Things will have changed, but the traditional ways remain.
Note: I find it unique that you can get about anything edible in a can, (from drinks to meat dishes,) in the vending machines everywhere. Eat and be merry!
