It’s looking and feeling like summer again. There’s no better way to beat the heat than to cool off by jumping into a giant body of water! The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, a 1.25 million acre United States National Parks Service site on the border of Utah and Arizona, has Lake Powell. This reservoir holds a lot of water, some as still as glass, and remarkable scenery every way you turn.
It’s fun to get out on the water on Lake Powell, either by bringing your own boat and kayak, or by renting a family-sized houseboat. Also, there are guided boat trips from the Lake Powell Resort Marina, such as the one to see Rainbow Bridge National Monument – (check back here in two weeks for my pictures from that cruise [recommended].)
You can camp at Lake Powell or nearby. There is a resort on the water, too, or accommodations in nearby Page, AZ. The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area received 5.2 million guests last year (2023,) a record; please make your reservations early. Then, visit and enjoy!
