Inspired by Death Valley National Park, I offer today’s video called “Cry Again, Try Again.” Death Valley NP is the largest park in the continental United States, where a world high temperature of 130.6 degrees Fahrenheit was recorded in 1913. It is the largest, driest, and hottest park in the National Park System.

Looking at this desert landscape, I remember the Christian parables of Moses, Jesus, and others wandering out there. The parable I like the best is the one in which a man looks back on his life as a trail in the sand. Most of the time, there are two sets of footprints, side by side, in the sand. But, when the man went through the worst part of his life, there was only one set of footprints. Looking at the solitary track, he asked Jesus, “Why did you forsake me during the time I needed you the most?” Jesus looked at him and said, “That was the time I carried you through your troubles.”

Have a Happy Halloween and All Saints Day!
