First of all, have a happy All Saints Day today, November 1st.
Today I present my video of Acadia National Park in Maine, U.S.A., another park in the video series of national parks, memorials, and monuments compositions of the last few years. If you want to see it in person, as I recommend, now is a good time to visit this gem because of the fall colors you see in the park and on the way.
Musically, I called this “Hemingway’s Groove” because it had a Acadia National Park groove feel that Papa Hemingway would have appreciated as much as all things he loved Caribbean-style, a style hot and saucy with a backbone beat, sea-worthy, and because the heritage of this park, founded in 1929, came from his generation. That was the Roaring 20s’.
As an alternative, I could have called this “Fitzgerald’s Groove,” or The Great Gatsby Groove, since F. Scott Fitzgerald was a rival, friend, and contemporary who also loved the party playboy scene of the Roaring era both here in places like the mansions of Maine and in Europe. Both are great American writers. Both deserve to have a song written about them. Perhaps another time.
