Although Christmastime is six months away, it may not be too early to begin planning a trip to a traditional Christmas Market in Europe. Most of the Christmas Markets run from late November to right around Christmas Day, so there is about a month to see one (or many) of them.
At a Christmas Market, you will find many of the crafts, such as East German wood-carved decorations, that have been practiced for centuries. Also, you can have a taste of hot mulled wine (red and white.) Some Christmas Markets have ice rinks to skate on. All have a charm that is unique around the holidays.
I have heard that if you see one Christmas Market, you have seen them all. However, I feel that each has something special to offer, and I would gladly visit many again. A Christmas Market in a European town is a family-friendly occasion and a touch of old Christmas magic.
